The XLR8 MACh Speed G4 ZIF MPe 400 features a 400 MHz PowerPC 7400 (G4) processor with the AltiVec "Velocity Engine" vector processing unit and 1 MB of backside cache. The card plugs into the ZIF socket provided by the Power Macintosh G3 series and ZIF-based Power Macintosh G4 models, replacing the original processor card. All upgrade cards in the MACh Speed G4 ZIF MPe series have switches that can be used to adjust both the backside bus speed and ratio, and according to XLR8, are optimized for use in multiprocessing configurations. |
