Recent Apple Macs - Identifier Listings

The most common identifiers for G3 and later Macs are each listed below.

For example, the MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.0 13-Inch (Unibody) can be identified by its US Order Number (MB466LL/A), its Model Number (A1278), its EMC Number (2254), its Model ID (MacBook5,1), and its official "Apple Subfamily" designation (Late 2008).

However, please note that these identifiers often are not unique (only the order number is unique in the above example), but still can be useful to track down a particular Mac. You also can lookup a Mac by Order Number, Model Number, EMC Number, Model Identifier, or Serial Number.
