The Newer iMAXpowr G4 433 features a 433 MHz PowerPC 7400 (G4) processor with 1 MB of backside cache on a 216.5 MHz backside bus. The iMAXpowr G4 is installed in the tray-loading iMac G3 daughtercard slot, replacing the original daughtercard. To cleverly circumvent the ROM-issue regarding processor upgrades (see FAQ), Newer has essentially retro-fitted an existing iMac G3 daughtercard with a faster processor. After installing the card, you were expected to return the original daughtercard for a rebate, which would be upgraded and re-sold. This card is compatible with all tray-loading iMac G3 models (233 MHz, 266 MHz, 333 MHz). |
