The Sonnet Encore G4
800/1M features an 800 MHz PowerPC 7455 (G4) processor with
the AltiVec "Velocity Engine" vector processing unit, 256k
on-chip cache and 1 MB level 3 backside cache. The card
plugs into the ZIF socket provided by the "Beige" and "Blue
& White" Power
Macintosh G3
models as well as PCI-based Power
Macintosh G4
systems, replacing the original processor card. All Encore
models utilize Sonnet's unique "AutoConfigure" technology to
automatically detect what computer is being used and sets
the speed to the maximum safe setting. |
