Apple iMac G3 DV Graphite Snow Summer 2000The Apple iMac G3/500 DV Special Edition (Summer 2000) features a 500 MHz PowerPC 750 (G3) processor, 512k backside level 2 cache, 128 MB of RAM, a 30.0 GB Ultra ATA hard drive, a slot loading 4X DVD-ROM drive, ATI Rage 128 Pro (AGP 2X) graphics with 8 MB of VRAM, a Harmon-Kardon designed sound system, and Firewire "400" ports packed into a translucent "graphite" or "snow" all-in-one case design with a 15-inch CRT display.

The iMac G3/500 DV Special Edition (Summer 2000) is similar to the iMac G3/450 DV+ (Summer 2000) released at the same time, but was offered in "graphite" and "snow" rather than "indigo", "ruby", and "sage". The Special Edition model also shipped with a faster processor, twice the RAM, and a larger hard drive (30.0 GB instead of 20.0 GB).

The iMac G3/500 DV Special Edition (Summer 2000) also is rather similar to the iMac G3/400 DV Special Edition (Slot Loading) that it replaced, but the "Summer 2000" DV Special Edition system is offered in "snow" (white) as well as graphite. The iMac G3/500 DV Special Edition (Summer 2000) systems also shipped with a larger hard drive (30.0 GB instead of 13.0 GB) and a slightly better video processor with the same amount of VRAM (8 MB).

The "Summer 2000" models also replaced the oft panned Apple USB Keyboard and "hockey puck" Apple USB Mouse with the Apple Pro Keyboard and Mouse.

Please note that Apple decided to refer to this line as the "Summer 2000" series, which refers to Summer in the Northern Hemisphere.
