Apple Watch Series 8, GPS, 45 mmThe Apple Watch Series 8 models are highly similar to the Apple Watch Series 7 models that they replaced, but they have temperature sensors for expanded health monitoring, a more powerful gyroscope and accelerometer to support Crash Detection for automobile crashes, and a Low Power Mode option.

This particular model, the Apple Watch Series 8 (Aluminum, GPS, 45 mm) does not have wireless cellular capability, but higher-end models in the series also are capable of being connected to the Internet without a "tethered" iPhone for some functionality. This "GPS" model is required to be connected to an iPhone 8 or later running iOS 16 or later.

All Apple Watch Series 8 devices are controlled with a Digital Crown with haptic feedback and a touch capable display. This particular Apple Watch Series 8, the GPS model in the 45 mm size, features a 396x484 "Always-On Retina" LTPO OLED screen with Ion-X glass packed in an aluminum case with a ceramic and sapphire crystal back that connects to the charger.

Battery life is an Apple estimated "up to 18 hours" overall in modest use; the "Low Power Mode" option can extend battery life to up to 36 hours by disabling the Always-On Display and other functions.

There are four aluminum body options that were offered by Apple Authorized Resellers -- warm gray "Starlight", nearly black "Midnight", silver (pictured, left), and (PRODUCT) RED (pictured, right). A variety of bundled bands in addition to a wide range of additional watch bands were available from Apple via customization, as well.
