Apple iPod nano 2nd Gen (PRODUCT) REDOfficially dubbed the iPod nano (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition, this iPod nano 2nd Generation configuration has a red aluminum housing and a white clickwheel. Internally, it is identical to the standard iPod nano 2nd Generation. It uses 4 GB or 8 GB of flash memory, capable of supporting 1000 or 2000 songs and "up to" 25,000 iPod nano-viewable photos, but not video playback.

Hardware enhancements for all iPod nano 2nd Generation models compared to the original iPod nano include longer battery life (a reported 24 hours), and a brigher 1.5 inch (diagonal) LCD display. The software was improved with a search engine.
