The Apple iPod U2 Special Edition (Fifth Generation - Enhanced) is internally identical to the 30 GB version of the iPod Fifth Generation (Enhanced) but cost US$30 more (US$279) -- and likewise is capable of supporting "up to" 7,500 songs in "128-Kbps AAC format", "up to 40 hours" of video, and "up to" 25,000 photos.
Externally, it is identical to the iPod U2 Edition 5th Generation, with a red "ClickWheel" and a "gloss black metal" rear case (featuring laser-etched autographs of the U2 band members like the other U2 models).
Like the standard "Enhanced" Fifth Generation iPod, it has a "2.5-inch (diagonal) color LCD [display] with LED backlight" reported to be "up to 60% brighter" than the display in the previous iPod 5G models. Other software enhancements include a search function and additional iconography. All Fifth Generation iPods -- U2, original, and "enhanced" -- are capable of playing a variety of games -- including Tetris and Pac Man -- available through iTunes. The battery life of the Fifth Generation "Enhanced" models was improved as well for slideshows and video playback, but remained the same for music playback.
