The Apple Mac Server G4/450 (AGP Graphics), based on the Sawtooth architecture, features a 450 MHz PowerPC 7400 (G4) processor with the AltiVec "Velocity Engine" vector processing unit and 1 MB of backside cache. It shipped configured with 256 MB or 512 MB of RAM, an 18.0 GB or 36.0 GB Ultra2 SCSI hard drive (and corresponding PCI card), a 5X DVD-ROM drive, and a Rage 128 Pro graphics card with 16 MB of SDRAM in a translucent "graphite" enclosure with a "fold down door" on the side that makes the system extremely easy to upgrade.
For all practical purposes, all models in the Mac Server G4 series are identical to another model in the Power Macintosh G4 series, but the server models often shipped with larger or faster hard drives and more RAM, and always with pre-installed server software. The Mac Server G4/450 (AGP), in particular, is based on the Power Macintosh G4/450 (AGP), but originally shipped either with a copy of MacOS 8.6 and AppleShare IP 6.3.1 or MacOS X Server.
Despite the age of this system, site sponsor Other World Computing has RAM, hard drives, SSDs, and other upgrades available for this specific Mac while supplies last.
