All Network Server Models | All 1996 Models | Dynamically Compare This Mac to Others
The Apple Network Server 700/150, codenamed Shiner HE, features a 150 MHz PowerPC 604 processor, 32 MB or 48 MB of RAM, a 1.0 GB or 4.0 GB hard drive, a 4X CD-ROM drive, and an optional DDS-2 DAT drive (standard in M3470LL/A configuration) in a rugged, easy-to-expand tower case designed so that any major component can be replaced in less than a minute.
The enclosure includes a lockable translucent front bay door, seven front-mounted, hotswappable drive bays, hot-swappable external fans, and a rear "drawer" for easy access to internal components.
Please note that the Network Server models technically are not "Macs," as they do not operate a version of the Mac OS, and instead use AIX (an IBM version of UNIX).
