Apple Vision Pro M5The Apple Vision Pro M5 is Apple's second AR/XR/VR (Augmented Reality/eXtended Reality/Mixed Reality/Virtual Reality) "headset" market, which Apple refers to as "spatial computing."

Like the original Apple Vision Pro (M2), the Apple Vision Pro M5 uses an aluminum and glass design that straps onto the face and presents two micro-OLED "ultra-high-resolution" displays to the wearer in addition to a front-facing display that can simulate the wearer's eyes to be visible by others in the same room. A top mounted "Digital Crown" dial allows the user to control the degree of visibility of the outside environment. Audio is provided by dual driver "audio pods" positioned next to each ear.

The Apple Vision Pro M5 is powered by a 3-nm (Pending) GHz Apple M5 processor with 10 cores (4 performance cores and 6 efficiency cores), an R1 coprocessor -- focused on image processing -- a 10-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. It is equipped with (Pending) GB of integrated RAM, the choice of 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB of onboard storage (which cannot be upgraded later), and a 6.5 stereo megapixel "stereoscopic 3D main camera system" that can capture "spatial" photos and video.

The Apple Vision Pro M5 headset weighs 1.325-1.431 lbs. (0.6-0.65 kg) depending on the light seal and band used; it ships with a new "Dual Knit Band" intended to be more comfortable than the default bands that shipped with the original Apple Vision Pro. The physically tethered, required, external battery weighs 0.778 lbs (0.353 kg) and provides up to 2 hours of "general" use or 2.5 hours of video watching.

The Apple Vision Pro uses a "visionOS" -- similar to the iOS -- but it cleverly allows one to interact with the device using hand gestures in midair (captured by six external facing tracking cameras), eye movements (captured by four internal facing eye-tracking cameras), and Siri voice commands. It also supports external Bluetooth keyboards and can be used in conjunction with a Mac, as well.

Compared to the original Apple Vision Pro (M2), the Apple Vision Pro M5 has a faster processor/graphics processor that provides an overall performance boost and reportedly renders 10% more pixels for a "sharper image with crisper text" as well as support for an increased refresh rate (120 Hz) for reduced motion blur. It also provides slightly longer battery life and improved comfort with the new bundled Dual Knit Band.
