November 15, 2010

This month, EveryMac.com features complete specs on the quietly introduced Mac Pro Server that replaces the Xserve line and a comprehensive update to the MacBook Air Q&A to cover the all new 11-Inch and 13-Inch MacBook Air models. Official Geekbench benchmarks also have been updated sitewide.

Additionally, the Currently Shipping, By Year, By Processor, By Case Type, By Capability, and By Identifier Mac specs listings have been updated. The Ultimate Mac Comparison and Ultimate Mac Lookup features all have been updated, too.

The comprehensively updated MacBook Air Q&A answers "What are the differences between the "Late 2010" MacBook Air models and the "Mid-2009" MacBook Air models that they replaced?" and "How do you replace or upgrade the storage in the 'Late 2010' MacBook Air models? Is it even possible?" and everything in between.

If you buy a new MacBook Air, please send in its serial number. The non-personal information will be added to the Ultimate Mac Lookup to help with model identification and differentiation. Thank you very much.

In case you missed one, a selection of Q&As since the last major update include:

  • What are the differences between the "Late 2010" MacBook Air models and the "Mid-2009" MacBook Air models that they replaced?
  • How fast are the "Late 2010" MacBook Air models compared to one another and to earlier MacBook Air models? How fast are these models compared to the "Mid-2010" MacBook and MacBook Pro models?
  • What is the battery life of the "Late 2010" MacBook Air models in "real-world" usage tests?
  • Is the battery in the MacBook Air models really not replaceable? Is there a "hack" to replace it?
  • What are the capabilities of the external SuperDrive available for the MacBook Air? Can it be used with other Macs?
  • How do you restore the operating system on the "Late 2010" MacBook Air models? Does it really not ship with a restoration CD or DVD?
  • How do you upgrade the RAM in the MacBook Air models? How much RAM of what type does each support?
