This update of EveryMac.com features comprehensive overhauls to the iPad Q&A and iPhone Q&A to completely cover the current devices as well as include new details about all earlier iPad and iPhone models. EveryMac.com's Ultimate Mac Lookup has been updated, too.

Have an iPad? See the new iPad version of the EveryMac webapp [subsequently discontinued]. The EveryMac webapp has much of the same content and functionality as the "old school" EveryMac.com website established in 1996, but is entirely redesigned for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

The iPad Q&A answers "What are all the differences between the iPad 4th Gen, iPad 2, and iPad mini? Which is best for me?" and "Can the iPad be used to type documents? Can it open and save Microsoft Office files?" as well as dozens of other questions about new and old iPads alike.

The iPhone Q&A answers "What are the main differences between all iPhone models? How can each be identified quickly?" and "Which iPhone models fully support iOS 6? For models that 'partially' support iOS 6, which features are supported?" and everything in between about the iPhone 5 and all earlier iPhone models.

EveryMac.com's Ultimate Mac Lookup has been updated with dozens of new identifiers for the latest Macs and devices submitted by helpful readers. Thank you very much to those who continue to contribute info for old and new Macs, iPods, iPhones and iPads. It's appreciated.

If you buy or receive a new or old Mac, iPod, iPhone or iPad, please send in its serial number. This non-personal information will be added to EveryMac.com's Ultimate Mac Lookup to help with model identification and differentiation. Thank you.

New Q&As

A selection of Q&As since the last major site update include:

  • What are the main differences between all iPhone models? How can each be identified quickly?

  • Which iPhone models fully support iOS 6? For models that "partially" support iOS 6, which features are and are not supported?

  • What are all the differences between the iPad 4th Gen, the iPad 2, and the iPad mini? Which is best for me?
  • How do you connect an iPad to a television or projector to display photos or video? What formats and resolutions does it support? What are the video out differences between iPad models?
  • Can the iPad be used to type documents? Can it open and save Microsoft Office files? Can it open and save PDF files?
