10 April 2013

This month, EveryMac.com features enhanced Mac Pro specs, the latest Actual Maximum RAM capacities for Intel iMac models, and a complete update to the Mac Upgrades section.

EveryMac.com's Mac Pro specs, identifiers, and more have been enhanced and expanded to improve identification and differentiation between the similar "Mid-2010" and "Mid-2012" Mac Pro lines.

EveryMac.com's Actual Maximum RAM has been updated with the latest capacities for Intel iMac models when running newer operating systems and EFI versions. This info is provided within Q&As, on individual specs pages, on the single-page "rundown" from the By Capability section of the site, and elsewhere.

EveryMac.com's Mac Upgrades section -- which has all upgrade related Q&As on a single page for your convenience -- now includes the latest Macs and upgrade options.

The Ultimate Mac Comparison, Ultimate Mac Lookup, and Ultimate Mac Sort features all have been updated, too.

Finally, the EveryMac app [subsequently discontinued] -- designed for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad -- has been updated, as well.

  • How do you upgrade the RAM in the "Late 2009," "Mid-2010," "Mid-2011" and "Late 2011" (21.5-Inch and 27-Inch) Aluminum iMac models? What type of RAM do they use? How much RAM do they actually support?
  • How do you upgrade the RAM in the "Late 2012" and "Early 2013" Tapered Edge Aluminum iMac models? Is it even possible? What type of RAM do they use? How much RAM does each model actually support?
