Apple Specs > By Capability > Actual Max RAM > MacBook Air

Update Published October 11, 2024

All MacBook Air models, regardless of release date or processor architecture, have soldered or integrated RAM. The RAM cannot be upgraded later by an end-user.

Nevertheless, it still can be useful to know which higher capacity RAM configuration options are -- or were -- available at the time of initial notebook purchase when buying a new or used MacBook Air. You can never have too much RAM.

To pinpoint a specific MacBook Air, the Model Identifier and EMC Number listed below should be sufficient for precise enough identification related to RAM capabilities. However, you also may look up a MacBook Air with other identifiers using EveryMac.com's Ultimate Mac Lookup. If you need help, refer to Mac Identification.

Click on a specific model for its complete technical specs, configuration options, identification details, performance benchmarks, original price in dozens of countries, and more.

Click on the triangle to the left of a product to open "Quick Specs" -- identifiers and basic configuration details -- and click on the name or image for complete specifications. You also can lookup Macs and other Apple products by their identifiers.

Asterisks indicate that particularly important details are provided on the applicable specs page. Also note that configurations listed are the default or most common; many models have multiple options. Refer to the specs page for full details.
