All iPad Air models have a front camera intended mostly for video conferencing and a rear camera intended for shooting still photos and video.

The cameras in each iPad Air have become better with every update to the line, but the iPad Air 3 models provided a significant jump in quality for the for the front-facing camera, the iPad Air 4 models provided a significant jump in quality for the rear-facing one, and the current iPad Air 5 models again provide a significant improvement for the front-facing camera:

There are significant differences between the displays in iPad Air models, particularly between the earlier iPad Air and iPad Air 2 and later iPad Air models.

The iPad Air 4 and iPad Air 5 models are equipped with a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port and can be connected to a display, television, or projector with the Apple USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter (MJ1L2AM/A) or the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter (MJ1K2AM/A).

For a projector or television with a vintage VGA port, you will need to use the Lightning to VGA Adapter or USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter. For one with a more modern HDMI port, you will need to use the Lightning to Digital AV Adapter or USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter.

The iPad Air 3, iPad Air 4, and iPad Air 5 models also can be connected to a television indirectly by using AirPlay Mirroring and an Apple TV 2nd Gen or later.

The iPad Air models also support photos and image files in JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PSD (Mac only), and PNG formats.

The iPad Air 3, iPad Air 4, and iPad Air 5 support Apple's Sidecar software feature. First introduced with iOS 13 (iPadOS) in conjunction with macOS Catalina (10.15), Sidecar allows a compatible iPad to be used as a second display for the Mac. Sidecar remains in subsequent and current versions of the iPadOS, too.
