Do the iPhone Duo models support the Apple Pencil? Which ones?

Yes. Unlike other iPhone models, the iPhone Duo series supports the Apple Pencil when running iOS 27.2 or higher, specifically the Apple Pencil USB-C:

The iPhone Duo does not support the "Hover" feature for the Apple Pencil USB-C and it does not support any of the other Apple Pencil models at all:

There does not seem to be a technical reason for the iPhone Duo to not support the better Apple Pencil Pro.

Which iPhone Duo models support which type of SIM cards? Are they all eSIM only?

Regardless of the location sold, all iPhone Duo models support dual eSIM; none support a physical nano SIM card.

Does the iPhone Duo support Face ID or Touch ID?

The iPhone Duo supports Touch ID authentication -- embedded in the side button -- it does not support Face ID.

Does the iPhone Duo support MagSafe?

Yes. The iPhone Duo supports MagSafe wireless charging up to 25W as well as Qi2 wireless charging up to 25W.

What type of camera does the iPhone Duo have? How does it compare to other recent iPhone models?

The iPhone Duo models have four cameras; two separate "outer" and "inner" front cameras and a "Dual Fusion camera system" on the back:

  • The "outer" camera -- on the front when closed -- is a 12 megapixel 4K "Center Stage" camera optimized for selfies. It does not support Face ID.
  • The "inner" camera -- on the inner display accessible when the device is open -- is a 1080p "under-display FaceTime camera" with Center Stage support for video calls.
  • The rear-mounted 48 megapixel "Dual Fusion camera system" incorporates two cameras. This includes a 48 megapixel "Fusion Main" camera and a 48 megapixel "Fusion Ultra Wide" camera. The rear camera system supports 4K Dolby Vision.

Compared to the iPhone 18 Pro/iPhone 18 Pro Max, the iPhone Duo cameras aren't quite as capable. The iPhone 18 Pro/iPhone 18 Pro Max have an 18 megapixel front "Center Stage" camera and a rear "Pro Fusion camera system" with a 48 megapixel "Fusion Main" camera with a physical variable aperture and a 48 megapixel "Fusion Ultra Wide" camera as well as a 48 megapixel "Fusion Telephoto" camera, which the iPhone Duo lacks entirely.

Can you take photos or shoot video with the iPhone Duo and save directly to external storage like on iPhone Pro models?

No. Unlike recent iPhone Pro models, which support the ProRes format and the ability to record directly to external storage, the iPhone Duo models do not have this capability.
