2 December 2013

This month, EveryMac.com features a comprehensive update to the iPad Q&A to cover the latest iPad models as well as two new reader requested Mac "By Capability" listings. EveryMac.com's Ultimate Mac Lookup has been updated, too.

The iPad Q&A answers "What are all the differences between the iPad Air and the iPad mini Retina? Which is best for me?" and "How fast are the new iPad models compared to one another? How fast are they really compared to their predecessors?" along with dozens of other questions about new and old iPads alike.

As requested by readers, the By Capability & Identifier section now provides two new "Graphics" capability listings for Notebooks and Desktops. If you are not familiar with the now twenty-one By Capability & Identifier listings, these provide a convenient one page "run down" of a particular capability or identifier for G3 and later Macs.

EveryMac.com's Ultimate Mac Lookup has been updated with many more identifiers for the new Retina Display MacBook Pro and iPad models from hands-on inspection and submissions by helpful readers. Thank you very much to those who contributed info from recent purchases. It's always appreciated.

New Q&As

A selection of Q&As since the last major site update include:

  • What are all the differences between the iPad Air and the iPad mini Retina (2nd Gen)? Which is best for me?
  • What are all the differences between the iPad Air (5th Gen) and the iPad 4th Gen replaced? Is the display the same?
  • What are all the differences between the iPad mini Retina (2nd Gen) and the original/1st Gen iPad mini? Is there anything different other than the display?
  • How fast are the iPad Air and iPad mini Retina (2nd Gen) compared to one another? How fast are they really compared to their predecessors?
  • Can you purchase a new iPad "unlocked" or are they tied to a wireless carrier? Were any earlier models available unlocked?
  • Can the iPad be used to type documents? Can it open and save Microsoft Office files properly?
  • How do you print directly from the iPad without transferring files to a computer first? Are there any "hacks" or workarounds to print with a non-AirPrint compatible printer?
  • How do you connect an iPad to a television or projector to display photos or video? What are the video out differences between the iPad models?

For all new Q&As, please refer to EveryMac.com's Recently Added Q&As listing.
