This month, EveryMac.com features information on obscure MacOS-Compatibles from yesteryear and a revision of the iMac FAQ. Also, compatibility with MacOS 8.5, officially and unofficially, is now included. Barring any major new Apple system releases, EveryMac.com updates will be light until the new year, as EveryMac.com adapts to "life after MacOS-Compatibles". July 15, 1998 This month, EveryMac.com has been completely redesigned, and it includes new features, a search engine, twice as much information on every model, and pictures of every computer. This month also marks the second anniversary of EveryMac.com! I hope you enjoy this major update and find EveryMac.com even more useful than before. Additions & Changes: Added a new "light blue, dark blue, and gray" look-and-feel that should make EveryMac.com more attractive and easier to read, particularly on "dark" monitors and Wintel boxes. Added a new "circle-E" logo and a new navigational system that loads faster and occupies less screen space. The new navigation bars are also duplicated at the bottom of each page to make it easier to get around from one page to another. Added a search engine to make it easy to search through the entire site. Added new "Browse" and "Search" sections to improve load time and ease navigation. Added "By Case Type" to have yet another way to compare different computers. Now you can browse EveryMac.com by manufacturer, processor, case type, and shipping status. Added pictures of every single computer. From the mainstream Apple Macs to the most obscure MacOS-Compatibles, there are now pictures of all of them. Added "new" computers: Added more subpages to Apple's section to improve the download time and make it easier to locate new Macs. There are new sections for the Power Macintosh G3, Macintosh Server G3, Macintosh PowerBook G3, and the iMac, as well as a new section for the older Centris series. Added more subpages to the "By Processor" section. There is now a section for the new PowerPC 740 (G3) processor and the older 68LC040 processor. Added a page for each computer to allow extra information and pictures to be included without increasing the download time. In most cases, the pages actually load more quickly than before. This feature also allows individual computers to be bookmarked to help with purchasing decisions later. Added corporate and product summaries of each MacOS-Compatible manufacturer on their respective main pages. Added expanded summaries for each model. Summaries are now placed at the top of each page beside a picture of the computer in question. Added "Current Path" to the bottom of each page to make EveryMac.com easier to use and easier to return to a particular page of interest. Added "quick links" to frequently used subpages to make navigation faster. Added country of origin for each manufacturer on the main "By Manufacturer" page. Added information pages for Applied Engineering, LG Electronics, and Marubeni. Added new links to Macintosh-related sites and removed several broken and outdated ones. Added a Terms of Use page. Please read and understand this page before using EveryMac.com. Added new counters. Changed the overall site structure to make the content more organized and easier to update. If you have bookmarked or linked to a subsection of the site, you may need to update accordingly. Changed the "before" link color to a "softer" shade of blue to correspond with the new look-and-feel and be easier to distinguish from the "after" purple link color on darker monitors. Updated the Mailing List to reflect the crumbling of MacOS-Compatible market and the rise of the iMac. I've also opened the mailing list to sponsorship to pay for its increasing cost.
