December 29, 1997 If you regularly visit EveryMac.com, then you probably have already noticed the new name and new appearance. EveryMac.com has been redesigned to be more attractive and easier-to-navigate as well as make it easier to find particular models of interest. This month, a Currently Shipping section has been added to make it easier to find current models. New MacOS-Compatibles from ComJet, MacWorks, PowerDome, and PowerTools have been added, as well as the vintage Dynamac series and the "semi-MacOS-Compatible" NuTek line. The MacOS Status page has also been updated to reflect the latest happenings in the MacOS-Compatible world. Additions & Changes: Added a new "blue and gray database look-and-feel" that makes EveryMac.com a little less "corporate blah" while still being fairly easy to read and follow. Added a new logo with new navigational icons from and based on the "Chris Icon Collections" from Dark Eagle Software, and the "World of Copland 2" collection from the IconFactory. All logos and interface elements no longer include drop shadows to make everything "cleaner" and easier to read, even on low-resolultion machines. Added a Currently Shipping section to make it easier to find and purchase current models. Added new MacOS-Compatible Manufacturers: Added "new" MacOS-Compatible Manufacturers: Added new computers:
Added "new" computers: Added new links to manufacturers and Macintosh-related sites, and fixed or removed broken ones. Added a statement about DayStar no longer selling MacOS-Compatibles. Subdivided the current and former MacOS-Compatible manufacturers to make it easier to locate the manufacturer(s) of interest as well as make it easier to determine which models are available to purchase new. Changed the frames and alternate tags to allow text-based and non-frame browsers to view EveryMac.com. It's not as pretty or as functional as with modern browsers, but it still works. Changed the overall structure to make the content more organized and easier to update. The change is subtle, but now all primary pages can be bookmarked independently from the main page, making return visits potentially more useful. Changed the "normal" link color to blue from purple, and the "visited" link color to purple from blue to conform to the new appearance and to the industry-standard. So much for "think(ing) different." :-) Changed officially the name to "EveryMac.com" to correspond with the domain name. It's what most people call it anyway. Changed "Help" to "Glossary" for greater clarity. Changed the size of the advertising frame slightly to display the entire banner. Updated the facts, speculation, and commentary regarding the status of every current MacOS-Compatible manufacturer. Updated the Mailing List to reflect the recent changes in the MacOS-Compatible market, as well as multiply the options for planned MacOS-Compatibles. Updated the By Processor pages. Updated "Estimated Current Prices". Updated "Introduction" and "Discontinued" dates. Updated configurations on several models. Corrected a few typos and errors. If you would like to advertise on EveryMac.com, please e-mail. I appreciate your support. Thank you. Please note that this substantial upgrade includes frames, client-side image maps, and background colored tables, although it doesn't have higher browser or system requirements than the last major upgrade. Although EveryMac.com is now fully-compatible even with text-based browsers, if your browser doesn't support frames, client-side image maps or background colored tables, then I strongly recommend that you download Netscape Communicator (4.0) for optimum viewing.
