Complete technical details on every Apple Mac and Mac clone, organized by case type. This includes Notebook, All-in-One, Cube, Tower, Desktop, Cylinder, and Rackmount case types.

Mac case types are further segmented below by four major "eras" in reverse chronological order -- Apple Silicon Macs (M-Series; 2020-Current), Intel Macs (2006-2023), PowerPC Macs (1994-2006), and 68k Macs (68000-68040; 1984-1996).

Vintage Mac clones By Case Type are organized below, too.

Remember that you always can use your browser's find function (⌘F on Macs) on this page to quickly spotlight specific categories or case types.

Also see: Apple Macs By Series, Year, Processor, Capability and Identifier.

Note that All-in-One, Cube, Tower, and Desktop case types are all designed for fixed use at a desk, but specifics are different:

  • All-in-One Macs have the display and computer integrated in a single piece of hardware with a separate keyboard and mouse or other input device.
  • Cube, or Cuboid, Macs are compact and intended to be placed next to or behind a separate display.
  • Tower Macs are large, have at least some degree of internal expansion, and can be placed next to a display or under a desk.
  • Desktop Macs, now largely from the distant past, are built to have a separate display placed on top of the computer itself.
