March 26, 2007

This update of EveryMac.com features complete specs on the Apple TV -- far more detailed than the "official" specs provided by Apple -- as well as a handful of additional Apple TV Q&As. More importantly, however, this update completes the enhancement of all "recent" Apple specs pages.

Like all other G3 and newer models, the PowerBook G3, Power Macintosh G3, Mac Server G3, and Mac Server G4 specs pages now have more information regarding the memory, storage, and video subsystems of each computer as well as model numbers and more detailed explanations of the differences between configurations.

This comprehensive specs overhaul is the result of many months of hard work. It is hoped that you enjoy this major enhancement of EveryMac.com and find the site easier to use, easier to decipher, and even more detailed and helpful than before. Thank you for continuing to support EveryMac.com and the companies that sponsor the site. With your continued patronage, EveryMac.com will be able to serve you free of charge for years to come.

Today's Discussion Q&A is "With Adobe scheduled to unveil the Intel-native version of Photoshop CS3 on March 27th, it would be logical for Apple to announce an 'eight core' Mac Pro either simultaneously or soon thereafter. Do you think the extremely easy-to-upgrade Mac Pro is as close to perfect as one could expect from a tower case or do you think it could be improved further? Beyond additional speed, would you like to see more drive bays, expansion slots, or other features added to the series? Do you think there is a market for a smaller Mac Pro 'minitower' or 'cube' with reduced expansion but a lower price? Why or why not?" Contribute your ideas.

In case you missed one, Q&As since the last major update include:

  • What types of television supports Apple TV? Is Apple TV compatible with HDTV and SDTV?
  • What type of processor and video processor does the Apple TV use? Can either processor be upgraded?
  • How much RAM of what type does the Apple TV support? Can it be upgraded?
  • What type of hard drive does the Apple TV use? Can it be upgraded?
  • What exactly is Apple TV? Is it a television? Is it a Mac?

Additions & Changes:

Added new specs:

Added newly formatted/overhauled specs pages:

Please note, as is stated at the bottom of every page, the estimated retail pricing was updated as "modern" (G3 and newer) systems were converted to the new format. These prices were last updated between August 14, 2006 and March 26, 2007 (please refer to the archived "What's New?" pages for when specific systems were enhanced). Pricing for "vintage" pre-G3 systems using the old format is out-of-date and will be modified in the coming weeks. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
