Pros:
Cons:
So, is the MacBook Neo right for my needs?
The MacBook Neo represents a new market entry for Apple, much cheaper than any notebook computer the company ever has released and it is intended to compete with cheap Windows notebooks and Chromebooks.
If you want the cheapest new Mac notebook you can buy; this is it. At a starting of price of US$599, it is a full US$500 cheaper than a new MacBook Air M5. The MacBook Neo uses a quality aluminum case, pops out adequate performance for day-to-day use, and has a decent display, webcam, and battery life.
If you're not bothered by the significant limitations of the MacBook Neo -- including the small amount of RAM, mediocre ports, modest external display support, and more limited feature set than the MacBook Air M5 -- or at least you are willing to live with these limitations to save US$500, the MacBook Neo could be ideal for you.
Of course, if your interest in the MacBook Neo is mostly because it is cheap, you also would be well served by considering a used MacBook Air. Used MacBook Air models from two or three years earlier -- like the MacBook Air M2 and MacBook Air M3 -- are faster than the MacBook Neo in multicore tasks, have much better connectivity, and more advanced features and yet are priced very competitively on the used market compared to the new MacBook Neo.
