On June 25, 2026, reportedly because of higher memory and storage component costs related to other companies snapping up inventory and building AI data centers, Apple significantly increased prices across nearly all of its product lines.
This price increase included all currently shipping Macs -- the MacBook Neo, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, Mac Studio, and iMac models -- as well as all currently shipping iPads -- the "regular" iPad, iPad mini, iPad Air, and iPad Pro -- and even the Apple TV, HomePod, and Apple Vision Pro devices. Only the iPhone and Apple Watch lines, as well as Apple accessories and displays, were spared.
Although the scale of this price hike across so many products is unprecedented, truly "old school" Mac users may be reminded of Apple's "speed dump" of the then recently introduced Power Mac G4 line. On October 13, 1999, because of a processor shortage, Apple quickly reconfigured the Power Mac G4 line with slower processors but kept prices the same. Users were not thrilled.
This time, the effective shortage of memory and storage has resulted in both higher prices and the elimination of some higher-end configuration options. A quick summary of the price hikes are listed below.
